Reading the life-changing magic of tidying up by marie kondo
Each week we will spend at least half our time on our mat moving and breathing as a way of learning and experiencing some of the concepts of the book. You may choose to read the book all at once, or move through slowly over our 5 weeks together.
We will gather with the anticipation that each person has read:
Week 1 (March 17) – Introduction & Chapter 1
Week 2 – Chapter 2
Week 3- Chapter 3
Week 4 – Chapter 4
Week 5 – Chapter 5
Spring Cleaning gets its name with honest origins – after a season hunkered down at home under blankets, when the sunshine greets us we have the natural urge to resurface. Watch as the earth releases her previously frozen waters and you’ll follow the lead to begin to let go. This feels like the perfect opportunity to read (or review) the Japanese art of decluttering and organizing – but not just for our homes. I think it has something to do with how we live our lives.
I don’t find it coincidence that springtime is where we celebrate the Christian season of Lent, a six-week period of time when we pull back on certain elements of our life. Some forgo meat, others let go of sweets or habits which no longer serve them. It’s a practice of linking how we live with what we want from life.
In our time together, we’ll review one chapter of the book, share our insights and questions, followed by a yoga practice that appreciates a sense of release. It’s an opportunity to integrate the truths we read with our physical experience.
I will cap our group at 12 to ensure it allows for thoughtful discussion from all participants, so make sure you sign up early. Books are inexpensive on Amazon and there is a ready supply available for reserve at the Upper Sandusky Community Library.
Our spring group has filled, but feel free to add your name to the wait list in case a cancellation becomes available.
*If you regularly practice in a studio class on Monday nights or Thursday mornings (or are beginning one on Saturday mornings, please know that you will get a discount on your regular series classes if you want to participate in both.)
